Support The Balde Family

On January 11th Rebecca Balde went to the doctor and found out she had influenza. Over the next few days she got worse and worse and went to the emergency room on the 16th. The doctors found out that not only did she have the flu but she also had pneumonia and she was extremely sick. She was immediately put in a medically induced coma and placed on a ventilator. Later that night the doctors found out the she was in septic shock as a result of the strep virus entering her bloodstream. Tuesday morning she was transferred to the ICU at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton where she currently remains. She has been on continual dialysis since Tuesday and has had every test under the sun performed on her. The doctors are hopeful that within the next few days they will be able to bring her out of the coma and take her off of the ventilator but every time we receive good news it’s followed by more bad news. One thing that is for sure is that she will have a very long recovery ahead of her and the extent of that won’t be known until much later. Her husband Travis has taken unpaid FMLA from work to take care of their 2 daughters (Harper and Laney) and to also be at the hospital with Becky. Having no income coming in for the foreseeable future means that any and all donations would be greatly appreciated. We will continue to post updates about Rebecca on here but please also respect the privacy of the family.
