Barrie Ellen "Mimi" Sharp (née Durham), 65, of Georgetown, TX, passed away on August 11, 2024. Born on May 31, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, she was a cherished figure in both her personal and professional communities.

Mimi was a beacon of love and support, known for her warm presence and nurturing spirit. Her journey through life was marked by her dedication to her family and her passionate pursuit of academic excellence. After raising her children, she returned to school, earning her BA from St. Edwards University followed by an MA and PhD from Texas State University. Mimi spent her career as a professor at Texas State University, where she was much loved by students and colleagues alike for creating a classroom environment that mirrored the warmth and comfort of her own home.

A stylish woman with a keen sense of humor, Mimi enjoyed cooking, planting, traveling, shopping, and fashion. Her evenings often ended with a relaxing bubble bath and a glass of fine wine, a testament to her belief in enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Mimi was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown, where she found a great sense of community and belonging.

She is survived by her husband, Tom McGee; mother, Judy Durham; children, Leslie Arce, Christina Sharp, Tommy Sharp, and Bonnie Sharp; grandson, Charlie Sharp; and siblings, Rosemary Brookshire, Charlotte Dufon, Hannah Durham, and Michael Durham-Romero. Mimi was preceded in death by her former husband, Bobby Sharp, and her father, Harrold Durham.

Services to celebrate Mimi's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at The First United Methodist Church, 410 East University Avenue, Georgetown, TX 78626, with a reception to follow at the MCMC across the street.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Barrie E. McGee Scholarship Fund, honoring her legacy and support for education. Mimi's light and love left an indelible mark on all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
