Dearest family, friends and kindhearted strangers,
As some of you know, we unexpectedly lost our beloved mother, Nana, and best friend on Christmas Day. In the wake of the awful heartbreak we feel each and everyday, our family remains close to build each other up and make an extra effort to keep in touch as we try to move on with the hurt of her absence.
In the midst of this mourning on January 26, tragedy struck our family once more. Our 11 year old nephew Nicholas was rushed to the ICU for lack of oxygen to his brain in what we understand to be a freak accident. It's been a rollercoaster of emotional news as he fought for his life each and every moment, then on January 28 the doctors told us he was brain dead.
Our family is suffering more than we ever had and the pain of our loss is unbearable. Our hearts will never truly be whole again. Nicky is on life support right now so that his organs can be used to give another family hope and a miracle - Nicky will live on saving lives of others as a true superhero, so much like the ones he admired.
Now as we sit and prepare for a funeral that should not be, our brother Michael and his wife Debbie are looking at a mountain of expenses to add onto the heartache. Along with hospital bills and funeral costs, we need to transport Nicky's body from Florida to New York so he could be buried with his Nana.
So we are humbly reaching out to family, friends, co-workers and the kindness of strangers to help us alleviate some of the unexpected burden our family needs to bear. No donation is too small and we truly, truly appreciate anything you can give.
We so greatly appreciate all of the prayers, help, and love we've received since December and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generation.
Thank you,
Rene, Christine, and Michael
