Support the Browns: Recovering from Davis Fire

Donation protected
Within Davis Creek Park, nestled amongst the towering pine trees, stood a park ranger residence. More than just a place for park employees, this house was truly a home. Tragically, that home is now gone—one of the first structures lost in the Davis Fire.

The home belonged to the Brown family—Andy, Annie, and their three girls, Delilah (15), Paisley (13), and Ashbee (7). Andy works as a district manager and park ranger for Washoe County Parks, which gave them the opportunity to call this peaceful park setting their home. My son fondly called it "the house in the forest," and Ashbee was his "friend in the forest." Though modest in size, the home was filled with warmth, love, and memories of laughter and togetherness—a fun gathering place for many.

The Browns are fun-loving and caring people who give back to their community through their line of work. Annie previously worked for the state park system. She also helps around Davis Creek Park whenever needed.

They weren’t home when the fire started in the park, which is likely a blessing considering how fast it spread. However, this meant they were unable to take anything with them, including their animals. By the time they heard about the fire and returned, they could no longer access their house. Fortunately, one of their dogs has been found, but two of their dogs and their cats are still missing. With only one vehicle and the clothes on their backs, they are now staying with family. 9/8 update - Jasper has been found. Only one dog missing now.

The Browns have a long road ahead and need our help to get back on their feet. The goal is to raise funds to help the Brown family get back on their feet. These donations will go toward finding a new place to settle, providing essentials like clothes and food, and ensuring the girls have the items they need—whether it’s school supplies or just things that bring them comfort and joy. After all, kids, even teenagers, need toys and things that make life fun during such a difficult time.

Though they are technically extended family — my husband's cousin and her family — they feel much more like immediate family to us. Our oldest and their youngest have grown up together.

Please consider helping in any way you can. Every bit of support is deeply appreciated.
