About Brú:
At Brú, we believe that culture can serve as a bridge between people from diverse backgrounds. As a response to the increasing global negativity and unfairness we have been confronted with as young people over the years, our mission is simple yet increasingly important: to create safe and inclusive spaces through culture, literature, and dialogue. The name "Brú," meaning "building bridges" in Icelandic, encapsulates our vision perfectly. Brú is an attempt to focus on our strengths as a small community rather than our weaknesses. Working on a local micro-level gives young individuals like ourselves the idea of impact, as small as it may be. We believe that grassroots initiatives like this have a longer-lasting impact on those who join our events and, hopefully, the world.
Concretely, we aim to do this by organising regular reading and discussion workshops centred around important and temporary themes, such as migration, mental health, friendships, love, grief and loss, legacy and heritage, queerness, etc. One book is chosen concerning the theme, guiding the dialogues. Furthermore, we continuously incorporate multi-media to broaden the scope of impact and engagement, both recommended by us and our community.

- Organise cultural events such as quiz nights, literary speed dating, etc., to broaden our scope and reach more people by diversifying our formats.
- Organise author talks to enrich cultural exchange and bring knowledge production directly to the community, eliminating barriers and prioritising horizontal knowledge.
- Collaborate with local organisations to host workshops, cultural festivals, and community service projects.
