Support the Carl Inserra Leukemia Fund

Donation protected
My father, Carl Inserra, passed away in 1987 (aged 28) when I was only two years old after a long, hard-fought battle with Leukemia. I am on a mission to ensure that no child has to experience what I have growing up without my father in my life. I simply cannot bear even the thought that my son, Evander (pictured in the listing photo when he was only a few months old), and my wife, Kate, would ever have to face the same life-altering loss and heartbreak.

Pictured Above: My father and I before his passing.

Unfortunately, my family has a long history of illness due to Cancer. Most recently, my cousin, Lawrence Inserra III, was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. This was Lawrence's second cancer diagnosis after having defeated Hodgkins Lymphoma when he was a child. Lawrence began aggressive treatment immediately, and fought yet another hard battle with the disease. By the grace of god, Lawrence defeated cancer yet again, and now is in full recovery.

In honor of Lawrence and in remembrance of my father, I have decided to run Disney's Virtual Star Wars Rival Weekend Half-Marathon, followed by the Rival Challenge Run (10K) the following day, to raise funds for the Carl Inserra Leukemia Fund, a non-profit fund established over 34 years ago in my father's honor which as raised over $3.5 million dollars over the course of the past three decades.

The Carl Inserra Leukemia Fund allocates donations to numerous cure-focused medical organizations and facilities for research, education and equipment as well as to ease the financial burden of patients and their families. For example, the fund has donated to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Foundation. Located in Seattle, Washington, the Hutchinson Center (one of the hospitals at which my father was treated) is known for its team of world-renowned scientists and humanitarians working together to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. In 2015, the Carl Inserra Leukemia Fund also made donations to the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation, the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, the MS Center at Holy Name Hospital, Tomorrows Children's Fund, Make-a-Wish and others. In 2016, the fund contributed to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of the Children's Cancer Institute of Hackensack University Medical Center. Tackle Kids Cancer benefits the essential clinical care, unique support services and groundbreaking cancer research needed to find a cure. Most recently, the fund has also made donations to the UPENN Abramson Cancer Center, where they are performing some of the most innovative and groundbreaking cancer treatments currently in clinical trails.

100% of all funds raised are allocated to these and various other charities, wherever they may be needed most.

Please join me in support of this noble cause and know that every dollar raised brings us closer to finding a cure for this horrible disease.
