On the evening of August 12, 2024, a tragic accident happened to one of the sweetest little boys on this earth. Jac was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder which can lead to a child eloping. This resulted in an accidental drowning. Although life saving efforts were made, Little Joseph "Jac" Carper went to be in the arms of Jesus, but we know he was welcomed with lots of love and the biggest of hugs. Jac will be remembered as a spunky, bright, unique and lovable little boy. Although Jac had the diagnosis of Autism; he, his parents and his siblings didn't let that define him. It only encouraged him to live the best life he could have ever had. Whether it was playing with his siblings, listening to music, playing on his tablet, loving school, snacking or laughing - Jac LIVED. What I mean by this is, everyday was a different day for Jac. He woke up, he had a routine but he kept that smile and he lived. He learned to talk even when he physically couldn't. He learned to do things that scared him, even when his diagnosis would tell him he wouldn't. He woke up everyday and continued to LIVE. We can take away so much from Jac's short life. Wake up everyday and continue the normal routine because you have to but don't forget to do something that might be scary, might be different but do it with all you have. Jac was brave. Strong. Jac taught me about life.
I want to touch on his parents. Joe and Shannon have taken on a lot as parents of 3 kids but one having special needs. It is hard. But they did it with such GRACE. Shannon taking on the responsibility of sharing their journey online to try and help other parents that go through the same journey as them. Joe, wow, Joe. What a dad! He would even go to board meetings to have the community learn more about Autism. He would hold fundraisers and get thousands of money raised for the Autism Community.
Then, there's Charlotte, Jac's older sister. Charlotte was the epidemy of the best older sissy. She would defend her brother every day. No one will bully, no one will question Jac on her watch. They will answer to Charlotte. Sure, she is a princess but she LOVED her Jac. Charlotte took the initiative to learn how to explain to other kids Jac's diagnosis so that they would have a better understanding of Jac and accept him. What a brave big sissy.
Emilia, Jac's baby sister. We want to lift her up as she is still young and won't be able to grow up with her big brother. But we will always remember and love how Jac loved making her smile and giggle.
I ask that you donate to the Carper family, and share this story. This story of LOVE. A family of LOVE and compassion. Share Jac's story.
If you can't donate, pray. We will see you again, Jac Jac!
