Support the Carr Family After Wildfire Loss
Donation protected
This fundraiser is organized on behalf of Susan Toler Carr, a cherished WACAC, NACAC, and HECA member who has touched the lives of so many through her dedication to students and families.
On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, wildfires tragically reduced the Carr family's beloved home of 24 years in Altadena, California, to ashes. Their house served as a home and sanctuary filled with love and memories of their late son Justin, who, at the age of 16, died unexpectedly during swim practice at his school in 2013.
The countless pictures of Justin and his artwork, a priceless collection of his creativity and spirit stored in the house, are lost. The wildfires also decimated the gardens Darrell painstakingly built, with stonework seating spaces where the family and friends regularly gathered, meditated, and honored Justin's memory. An iron gate door, a beautiful design created by one of Darrell's ironworks students as a tribute to Justin, survived the flames.
Susan and Darrell now face the unimaginable task of rebuilding their lives. Your contributions can offer them crucial financial support during this time of need—helping to cover daily living expenses, address unforeseen costs, and bridge the gap as insurance and FEMA assistance slowly progress. Just as important, your generosity will remind them that they are surrounded by a community that cares deeply for them.
Let's unite to help the Carr family rebuild and honor the legacy of love and resilience they've shared with so many.
