Support the CCGA Legacy Gardener Film Project

Tax deductible
The Legacy Gardener Project grew out of CCGA’s education team to recognize those lifetime gardeners who have made an impact through their leadership and service. These gardeners have taught generations, showing us how to value hard work, nurture a tiny seed, and feed the soil and our communities.

We believe gardeners’ stories are everything. Stories are our shared history and how we get to know each other. Legacy gardeners are the heart of what our gardens are. Learning and recording the personal histories of our senior garden leaders deepens our respect and appreciation for them and allows their wisdom to inspire even more people!

We launched the Legacy Gardener Project in 2020 and premiered our first two films at the 2021 virtual conference. They highlight the work of Ms. Erma Purnell of New Horizons Community Garden and Ms. Doretha Penn of Crystal's Peace Garden.

In 2024, our goal is to learn about and record the personal histories of more of our senior garden leaders. We hope to raise at least $3,000 to support filming, processing photographs and memorabilia, editing, and producing the final videos.
