Sponsor City of Boston Animal Shelter's Mission
Donation protected
Your donations will be used to offset emergency medical costs and cover enrichment items for our animals. Many times, injured animals come to us with veterinary needs that are beyond our in-house capabilities. We work with partner organizations to provide at-cost emergency treatment for them, including X-rays, medication, and surgery. Donations will also be used to purchase enrichment items, like treats, puzzles, and toys, which are essential to providing the humane care each animal needs during their stay at the Shelter. Our animal's need for your support is immediate and ongoing. Your donations will help to assure the best possible outcome for every animal.
100% of every dollar donated will go directly to the animals, because all administrative costs are covered by the City of Boston.
What We Do
In 2020, the City of Boston Animal Shelter took in over 700 dogs, cats, and other pets that were found as strays, abandoned, or rescued from unfit homes. We also assisted urban wildlife (racoons, skunks, birds, bats, and others) who found themselves in a situation where human intervention is necessary.
At our shelter we care for these animals, providing a warm bed, medical treatment, and play and enrichment. We give them a safe place to stay until they can be reunited with their owners or adopted to a new, loving home. Over 90% of the animals who came to our shelter in 2020 were returned to their families, transferred to a partner foster organization, or adopted directly into new homes.
The Shelter also provides low-cost services to Boston residents, including spay/neuter procedures, rabies vaccination clinics, and a pet food pantry for neighbors experiencing economic hardship. No questions asked, we're here to help.
About Me
My name is Peter Gray, and every day I care for the numerous dogs, cats, and other animals at the City of Boston Animal Shelter. I am running my third marathon to raise money for a cause I am deeply passionate about and have fully dedicated myself to. In 2019, I ran my first marathon fundraising for PAWS Chicago, a national model in animal sheltering, committed to bringing an end to the killing of homeless cats and dogs. In 2021, I’m fundraising much closer to home by raising money for the very animals I care for here at the City of Boston Animal Shelter!
Thank you so much for all your generosity and the life-saving aid it will provide to the animals I work with every day.
