Help me produce a Music Video and launch my Production Company!
What:
A few years ago--in 2018, precisely--I was a struggling actor in The Big Apple. One day, after a particularly soul-crushing audition day, I was in the shower and a silly little song popped into my head about the trials and tribulations of living in New York. It helped me make light of the ridiculous situations I found myself in. I recorded it on a voice memo and it sat on my phone for 6 years... Until somehow, unbeknownst to me, it decided to pop back into my head, along with an entire shot list for the video I would make for it. After sharing the lyrics with a few trusted confidantes, they laughed their heads off so hard, they told me I had to make it happen. So here I am, embarking on my first soiree as a self-producer! The song itself is a foul-mouthed comedy satire with big brassy Broadway flare. Think "Don't Rain on My Parade" meets "Avenue Q". It's a little bit of snark, and a whole lot of fun!
Why:
I want to make people laugh. I want to share something relatable with the world. I want to create. The title of "Producer" is one that has started to sound like something I want to add to my creator bucket, and they always say in show biz that "you can't wait around for the phone to ring, you have to make your own work!" So I've decided to put myself in the ring and go for it! By supporting this venture, you'll be helping me launch my production company with a bang, on a project I hope will entertain a wide audience of people. It will also help me build a platform to return to singing, which is something I love more than anything, but have done far too little of lately. Any and all support will have my forever gratitude!
Where money will go:
1. Hiring and paying creatives! I have a fabulous director-choreographer, Michael McCrary, who is on board to help me create my vision! I also have to hire--
-a music producer to help build, record, and mix the track
-a director of photography for the shoot
-dancers
-musicians
-an editor for post production
2. Travel to NYC for the shoot
3. Wardrobe for me and my dancers
4. Craft services to feed all cast and crew during the shoot
5. Rehearsal space
Thanks so much for supporting independent artists! I cannot wait to share this ditty with the world!
