Help Dania Morris: Stabilize and Create

My name is Dania Morris, and I’ve dedicated my life to creating music and art. I’m launching this fundraiser to help me navigate financial challenges and continue supporting myself as an artist and writer based in Los Angeles, CA. Recently, I’ve been deeply affected by the devastating fires in Los Angeles. Much of my income, which comes from art and project-based work, was tied to the Pacific Palisades community—a community that has tragically been destroyed by the fires.

Traditionally an artist and musician, I’ve recently begun writing my memoir—a reflection on my unconventional life and the path I’m still forging. This book goes beyond my personal story to illuminate alternative ways of living and highlight the communities and movements that have shaped and supported my journey.

The biggest challenge I face in writing this book is maintaining financial stability in the wake of the devastating fires in Los Angeles. My livelihood was closely tied to the Pacific Palisades community and its businesses, but overnight, my income vanished as most projects were canceled or indefinitely postponed. Without a steady source of income, I’m struggling to support myself. The funds from this fundraiser will go toward covering basic necessities—food, transportation, and housing—so I can continue focusing on writing.

My hope is that my story will inspire readers to prioritize their passions and the people who matter most. I want to encourage others to pursue their dreams with courage and embrace the path less traveled. Through my journey, I hope to show that being different can be a strength—you don’t have to conform to others’ expectations of what’s best. It’s up to each of us to define and create our own ideal life.

Once the book is written, I’ll need support with editing, publishing, and promotion. The initial goal of $12,000 will provide enough to sustain me while I write and help recover from the lost income caused by the fire. The full stretch goal of $25,000 will cover the next six months and the costs of publishing the book. Here’s the full breakdown of how the funds will be used:

$15,000 to cover living expenses for the next six months.

$5,000 for self-publishing the first print run.

$5,000 for professional editing and promotional efforts.

The first 20 people who donate $100 or more will receive a pre-release version of the book, signed by me with a personal dedication.
