Earlier this summer I dropped off a few copies of Data Visualization for People of All Ages in my neighborhood's sidewalk libraries—and they *flew* off the shelves. People are clearly interested in learning about data visualization, but they may not have known the book existed until it was presented to them in a low-barrier way. This got me thinking: what if we could provide the same access to data visualization literacy in neighborhoods across the country, or even across the globe?
This project aims to do exactly that by sending bundles of Data Vis for People of All Ages to volunteer "book fairies" in different locations. Each book is being purchased at cost for $20.97, meaning that each bundle needs a little over $200 to supply a neighborhood. The project will remain open as long as there is interest!
It's silly, it's wholesome, and it's all about giving our communities access to visualization resources. Please consider chipping in if you are interested and able.
Thank you!
