To know Mallory Delabar is to know a superhero. She brings joy, humor, and compassion into the lives of everyone she meets. Most importantly, to know Mallory is to know the best mom anyone could imagine. She is a powerhouse single mom to her 4 beautiful children, August, Sutton, Annie, and Bo, and recently faced the incomprehensible challenge of saying goodbye to sweet Sutton on New Years Day 2022 at the age of 7 due to an extremely rare mitochondrial disease. The baby of the family, Bo, has recently been diagnosed with the same genetic condition, and the Delabar family is yet again faced with an unimaginable challenge. The disease impacts his ability to turn food and oxygen into energy, and he can have an event at any time without warning, which will shut down his vital organs. With this disease he also has been diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disorder, and together, these both dramatically shorten his life expectancy. The Delabars press on in hope and in love, but they could use help from all of us to make the cost of Bo’s medical care more manageable, including paying for medical bills that insurance doesn’t cover, support with in home nursing care, and the purchase of adaptive equipment as his condition changes. Mallory has given so much to so many, and I can only hope that she receives just a small portion of that in return to take care of her family. Every little bit helps.
