Support the Dusenberrys' Recovery from Flood Damage
Donation protected
Early last week, our community was devastated by glacial flooding. Families were awakened to rising water in neighborhoods, yards, and homes and could do little to prevent the deluge from entering and damaging homes.
Our good friends and neighbors, the Dusenberry family (Nicole, Matt, Reece, and Kyle), fell victim to the flood after their first floor was inundated with water, damaging floors, walls, furniture, clothing, electronics, and sentimental possessions. They have a long road ahead to get to whatever normal looks like post-flood. Their immediate goal is to insulate their home and eventually sheetrock, finishing work, and replenishing furniture. All of this comes with an extensive cost, timeline, and of course, energy. Emergency funding has not been distributed and there has not been a timeline articulated for that assistance. At this moment it is unclear if they will receive any emergency aid.
The Dusenberry’s, like many Mendenhall River flood victims, are experiencing extreme burden: emotional, structural, financial. I’m hoping this community can continue to come together to show support for Nicole and Matt to help them navigate the difficult road ahead. This family is active in our community and finds numerous ways to support youth sports, education, small businesses, and our local gardening network.
If you can give financially, please do. If you’re looking for other ways to support, please consider restaurant gift cards, meals, or self-care opportunities, like massages.
Thank you for supporting this wonderful family during their time of need!
