Support the family of Bonnie Reedy

The morning of February 1st, Bonnie checked into Mercy Medical Center with severe pneumonia and existing COPD. She was taken straight to ICU, immediately put on a respirator, and placed into a medically induced coma. Overnight her condition declined. They discovered a bacterial blood infection and she went into septic shock. On Thursday, the doctor at Mercy was able to arrange a transport to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. An amazing team was flown down from Portland to prepare Bonnie for transport. The team performed a procedure called ECMO at Mercy. This very rare procedure is similar to dialysis where the blood is withdrawn from her body, put through a machine to oxygenate the blood (bypassing her lungs) and going back into her body. This procedure has been ongoing and will continue until her lungs have the capacity to help her breathe on her own. Bonnie was life flighted to Legacy late Thursday night. Friday morning, the doctor sat all of her children down and told them that their mother is very ill and the reason that people are sent to this hospital is because they are dying and need the best medical attention possible. The doctor also told them that her kidneys and lungs were slowly failing and they need to prepare for the worst. They sent the chaplins to Bonnie and her kids for support. Under the circumstances, it hasn't been easy financially. On top of all the medical bills, they are facing many other expenses (hotels, meals, etc.) Bonnie, age 54, remains in respiratory failure and on life support. We are unaware of what Bonnie's insurance will cover. Her young adult children are facing an overwhelming amount of financial difficulties on top of their extreme emotional stress during this life or death situation. As a close family friend, I'm asking for any help you can give. Our hearts are breaking for them and they don't deserve this pain. Please pray for Bonnie and her family during this tragic time. The doctors said "It will be a miracle if your mom survives this". They won't leave her side until they know for sure. We appreciate and thank you all in advance for your love and support to the Reedy's.
