Support the Family of Derrick Thomas

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Derrick Thomas, MSW (PSU class of 2018), passed away suddenly this past week.

 

Derrick was a caring, genuine, and committed person. He dedicated most of his adult life to advocating for social justice in underserved communities, including vulnerable youth, individuals who experience mental health challenges, survivors of traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and individuals who experience cognitive and developmental delays. He was an avid runner, a veteran, and more recently a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor. To know Derrick was to know his huge smile and his passion.

 

His family has asked for privacy during this time. If you are interested in showing support, we are encouraging donations to help the family with funeral costs, travel from Alabama, and other expenses.
