Support the family of Dmitri Deckard

Hi. My name is Susan Deckard. I’m Dmitri’s mamaw. I started this account to help my son Jakob and McKenzie and their 5 kids during little Dmitri’s medical emergency. Jakob and McKenzie are raising 5 kids under the age of 8 . Until now they have been doing an amazing job. Jakob recently got full custody of Dmitri and his little sister Sofia after abuse in their moms home . Things were really looking up. The kids have been thriving . Jakob works in construction. Kenzie part time mostly stay at home caring for the children. On Tuesday Oct 24,2023 Dmitri ( age 4) complained his arm and hand hurt. It escalated to him not feeling his hand and his arm and hand spasming. They took him to the local ER. Test were ran. No answers. He was then sent to Riley childrens hospital in Indianapolis. It was confirmed Dmitri was having seizures in his arm. Local seizures every 30 minutes. The seizures have been non stop since yesterday morning. He is exhausted. Jakob and McKenzie are doing everything they can for Dmitri currently wait to be consulted on the MRI Dmitr had. They were informed that Dmitri’s brain is swelling . Jakob and McKenzie will not be working for a while until this is sorted out. There has been mentioned the possibility of surgery because the seizure meds are not stopping the seizure. Again this poor baby has had this seizures going every 30 minutes for over 36 hours . I am not financially set to help them with the day to day costs to keep a family that big. They have rent coming up etc. please help this family so they can focus on Dmitri and what HE needs to overcome this medical emergency. All proceeds will go to the rent , utilities, food and any other immediate need to keep this family going . Family is caring for the other children at this time . Again any help is appreciated.

MRI showed infection in his brain. So scheduled a spinal tap. Started antibiotics for bacterial and viral because not sure which it was yet. Friday night it was clear something else was going on. He was trying to talk but only the left side of him mouth moved. They thought he had a stroke. They then got the spinal tap done. Early Sat got the news the infection was herpes 1. So some one with a cold sore or the virus active passed it to him and it went into his bloodstream to his brain. So now Drs know what it is and how to fight it. He has what's called todd paralysis not a stroke. He's extremely weak. Can not take food or drink thru his mouth because of the paralysis. Today they started his physical therapy. He's got a long road ahead of him but he's a fighter. Things are going to change for the family as he will always have a compromised immune system and will always have this virus and chance of future seizures. Please keep praying for him and his family ( has 3 brothers and a sister at home ) we started a go fund me to help my son with the day to day expenses of the family as dmitri will be in Riley for some time please spread the word to help them out. Both have taken time off work to be there for him in the hospital. And rent , utilities, food etc continues even when the paycheck isn't coming in . Family is caring for the other children so they can focus on dmitri. Feel free to spread the fund page every dime will be accounted for and will go directly to the families needs . Thank you.
