Support The Family of Kathy Downard after injury

Hello everyone, my name is Danielle Howard and I am with much heartache making this in big hopes to help my best friend Brittany and her family take away from some financial stress.

Wednesday Feb 28 started out like a regular day and quickly turned into an emergency situation when Brittany's mom, Kathy Downard, had a bad fall while at work. Kathy was taken to a near hospital where they ran test and found she had a brain bleed. From here they had to intubate and life-light her to Iowa city where she underwent a craniotomy to fix a bleed and help with reducing swelling. Kathy has been in a coma since her surgery and has had many obstacles to face. As of right now, she has not woken up as they had been hopeful to have happened already. Her scans look good, all things considered, and have showed brain activity and some improvement. Her body otherwise is completely healthy. As of now, it has been a terrifying waiting game to see what is to come.

The Downards have always been a really involved, hardworking family who lends a hand, money, you name it for anyone in need. And time and time again lately, their family has been tested and remains helpful to others.

In Dec 2022, Kathy's husband of 43 years, Randy, passed away. Still grieving his loss, Brittany's mother in law, Lori Miller, had a sudden decline and ultimately passed away just December 12th of 2023. Last Wednesday their lives were shocked once again when Kathy fell. Kathy is the rock of their family. A mom, a nana, a loyal friend and coworker, who really thrives on taking care of the people she loves.

As you can imagine the stress of the situation alone is unbearable, but financial stress on top of it, is making a very stressful situation, worse. Eating, having gas, or paying bills in a time where being present is most important, is the last thing anyone should have to think about. Brittany, her brother Ryan, and their spouses have all taken time off of work and spent 100s of dollars while there. This is not even considering their regular lives and bills. From taking time in December to be with her mother in law and now, she has no more paid time from work.

Their family has gave to everyone without ever expecting, or wanting to ask for anything in return. And they haven't and wouldn't ask, so with permission from them, I am asking that if you can help in any way, whether it be monetary, gas cards, prayers, shares or anything at all, please do so. They always give their support to others, now it's time we show them, they have ours as well!
