Support Remembering Lisa (Lipka) Proud

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michelle Lipka and Lisa was my beautiful sister.

On Sunday August 28th, My sister Lisa and her husband Jordan were driving back home from camping when a car crossed the line from the other direction and hit her vehicle head on. She suffered multiple brain injuries, broken bones and was in cardiac arrest many times before being being extricated and airlifted to Sunnybrook where they did everything they could to save her but we’re sadly not able to reverse her brain injury. “Brain Stem Death” are words that will haunt us always.

She was moved to the Critical Care unit early Monday morning where she was placed on medication to keep her heart going and life support while we waited for her Husband to be transferred from St. Michael’s so that he could be by her side at Sunnybrook. Life support was withdrawn on Monday September 5th with Family and her Husband by her side, surrounding her with so much love.

While I don’t like to speak about the awful nature of her injuries, I think it’s important to note that despite all of that, they were able to get her heart back and I’m positive it was a way for her to make sure her loved ones could physically say goodbye to her. She was such a strong person.

She will be remembered as a beautiful, hilarious and full of life 26 year old who couldn’t sit still, always looking for the next thing to do. She was either on a beach, hiking or running. She loved being in nature. She helped out anyway she could and poured thought into anything she gave. She was a tremendous Wife, loving Daughter, the best Sister and amazing Aunt to her nieces and nephews.

We would like to help raise money to recoup costs in commuting back and forth for the 8 days, to also allow time off of work for her parents to grieve the loss of their baby girl as no one should have to worry financially while having to bury their daughter.

This also allows for us to also honour her in ways she would have loved, such as sending her off with flowers that remind us of her, many photos of how full of life she was, a memorial bench in her name and planting a tree in her memory to name a few. Her husband would like to cover the cost of her funeral but understands our families need to contribute where we would like to, such as a special engraving on her stone.

While people have asked us if they could financially contribute to our family, they may also choose to make a donation to the CRCU at Sunnybrook in her name.

We love you forever Lisa. We will never move on, just move forward and keep your memory alive always.
