Support the Farrell Family in Their Time of Loss

Donation protected
Good Morning, good afternoon, good evening, of course it all depends on the time of day that one reads this.

There are many people and many stories out there. Each one touches one's heart and soul and each is deserving in its own special way. And how and when to give when so many are in need of help can be daunting for any of us.

But and there is always a but, I would truly hope that you take two minutes to understand what the Farrell family is going through.

I am a neighbor and a friend of the young lady and her family, who recently passed away. Her name was Callie Farrell who was called by friends and family CalGirl.

Callie was born with a severe case of Spina Bifida and confined to a wheel chair at birth who persevered when so many would have given up. While heart was big she could not overcome the maladies of which her disease brought upon her.

Her family gave it their all. They gave their love, energy and their best to Callie, while also giving their time and love to her nieces. Two of Callie's nieces have special needs and all are living under the one roof. The strain and emotional and financial hardship cannot be easily understood for many of us looking from the outside. The wear and tear on the faces of their caregivers is the mark of the gravity in which Mike and Angie live with everyday caring for Callie and her five other nieces. The toll on any family would break and severely compromise the family unit in itself. But this family holds strong despite all that is thrown at it.

Callie was one of the loveliest individuals that a person could meet, whose heart was as big as her body. I know that is said by many and it is true when we speak of Callie. Calgirl was largely home bound and cared for by her grieving mother Angie who gave her all to Callie which meant that Angie was never able to work part time, let alone full time.

Most of Callie's adult life was spent visiting hospitals or doctor offices, when not confined to her home. Callie was rarely able to spend time beyond her home community of Chincoteague, Va. which luckily is a stones throw to Chincoteague National Seashore on Assateague Island. The National Seashore was one of those rare places that Calgirl could loose herself and feel free from her disabled body even if it was but for a few short hours that her body allowed her to remain outside.

But, and this is where one holds out their hand and ask you to open your heart to this family.

In the last several weeks Callie has been hospitalized because of a compromising infection most likely brought on because of her comprised immune system due to her disease . Callie's body could not survive the onslaught of medical issues befalling her frail but spirited soul which took its final toll on her.

As with any terminal illness, Callie's medical and funeral bills are starting to roll in, along with Mikie's need to take off work from doing construction in order to be at the hospital for his sister. I should add that Mikie is the mainstay of the economic viability for this family, which can ill afford days off work let alone the mounting expenses generated by Callie's illness.

These bills will tax this family of limited means who are already burdened with substantial debt and loss of income .

Her family which is one of the sweetest, kindest, dearest people one could imagine, but not fortunate to be endowed with a wealthy legacy or property to lean on. Which is why I am asking you to open up heart and your wallets and give what you can to this family.

I am asking if you could help out in anyway possible to help this family transitioned with ease of knowing that some of the bills can be paid for.

And if your heart and pocketbook is capable the family would like you to donate as well to the spina bifid association
