Daniel woke up Tuesday morning with chest pains that progressively got worse throughout the day. He went to jiu jitsu that evening and by the time he got home he had become very ill. He went to St. John’s that night and was sent home with what they guessed was pleurisy from a virus. He woke up in the middle of the night on Wednesday morning and wasn’t able to breathe. He went back to St. John’s and was sent home with pain medicine and the same assumed diagnosis. We knew something wasn’t right when he was starting to lose his mobility because of the severity of his pain so we went to St. Francis where they started running tests and found that he had extra fluid on his knee. Torn acl knee was hurting worse than usual yadda yadda yadda. They found that he had a blood infection and on Friday it was actually really scary cause he was showing signs of early sepsis. He had knee surgery to open up the knee, drain some of the fluid to get more information on the cause of infection, and remove the cadaver from former ACL surgery. We are waiting on cultures to come back from surgery and should have more information in the next few days. Right now they are pumping full of antibiotics and he seems to only be improving.
Unfortunately Daniel has had to miss work, and will continue to miss work until he has fully recovered. As happens, bills are going to start growing until Daniel can return to work. Therefore any help from our friends, family, and community is greatly appreciated.
Anyone lucky enough to know Daniel knows he is a hard worker and wants to take care of his family as best he can, so let’s pick up some of that slack for him and get him the support he needs.
thank you in advance for any donations, and thank you to everyone who has reached out to him with words of love and support.
