Support the Fofanah family
Donation protected
We are raising money to support the Fofanah family as they mourn the loss of Ahmed Fofanah. Ahmed fought for justice for years after being targeted by the police and was a core member of Bristol Copwatch. He leaves behind his wife Martina and five children.
We urgently need to raise funds to help support the family after Ahmed’s tragic and sudden passing this August. Please give what you can to support and share this fundraiser, and Ahmed’s story, as widely as possible.
Money raised will support the family and Ahmed’s five children. Ahmed spent years fighting police persecution and harassment, working with Bristol Copwatch and Black Lives Matter Weston-Super-Mare to help others facing police racism and violence. Ahmed and his family also participated in the CO-POWeR project to share his story, which will be featured in an upcoming documentary.
"The racism I’ve come across has been from the police - they’ve made my life hell. I’ve been targeted, pulled guns on, I’ve been racially profiled, stopped, searched, all by the police... There’s millions of young black guys going through this - I decided to fight back. Because if I don’t fight back I’m destroying my kids."
- Ahmed Fofanah, in an interview with BLM Weston-Super-Mare. You can watch a video interview with Ahmed here or read this news report on his death to learn more about his work.
He is much loved and will be sadly missed, but his legacy and the struggle will continue.
