Support the García Family's Medical Battles

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Donna Woodland. I am reaching out to ask for help for my niece and her family, the Garcia Family.

The Garcia Family (Jose & Carey, and their three children: Isaac-age 23, AJ-age 16, and Rosalyn-age12) live in Arnold, MO and have been struggling with major health issues with Jose and Carey. The complications are causing them severe financial hardship.

First, Carey suffered a medical crisis last year. While working as a Personal Service Specialist at SSM her retinas became swollen. Her eyesight worsened, she could no longer see the computer screen clearly. The opthomology specialist has been giving her eye injections in both of her eyes every seven weeks. Due to severely diminished eyesight Carey can no longer work.

On January 3, 2025, Jose had a seizure while at home with his family. The kids called 911, the paramedics rushed him to Mercy South. After a CT Scan and multiple tests, Jose was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. Mercy South's neurologist and neurology team were not comfortable with doing the necessary surgery to remove the tumor so Jose was transported via ambulance to Barnes Jewish Christian (BJC) in St. Louis.

Numerous tests were completed and Jose's first surgery was scheduled to remove 80% of his brain tumor on January 24, 2025. The surgery went well. The following day Jose had another seizure. He was rushed for a CT Scan which showed severe swelling in his brain. Jose needed to go back into surgery to have a stent placed in his brain. Pathology reports showed what the neurologist graded as a 2-3 grade aggressive, cancerous tumor. The neurologist explained grade 2-3 meant the team would have to go back in and remove the remaining 20% at a later date.

On Monday, March 3 Carey noticed redness around the sides of her foot. She normally visitis her podiatrist every 3 weeks due to previous toe surgery and the risk of ulcers due to diabetes. The doctor diagnosed her with a bad infection in her right foot. He prescribed antibiotics and scheduled surgery for March 8th. Surgery went well, but the antibiotics given through Carey's IV caused an infection on her kidneys. The infection damaged her kidneys, causing them to fail. She started kidney dialysis right away which shows it is helping, but within a few days the counts go back up and dialysis is done again. She has had 3 dialysis treatments so far. She will remain in the hospital until they dona biopsy of her kidney, which is scheduled for Monday, March 24th.

With Carey being hospitalized since March 8th, Jose cancelled his brain surgery on March 14th. He is worried about her, Carey is worried about him, and their 3 children worry about the health of both their parents. As soon as Carey is stabilized and back at home Jose will reschedule to have the 20% of remaining cancer removed.

Jose has not been able to perform his duties at United Scrap Metal. He’s a supervisor that runs a crane. He has not worked since January 3rd. He struggles with energy levels and not feeling well. He is not allowed to drive for at least 6 months due to the seizures. His neurologist also doesn't want him to get hurt while he is at work operating a crane. Carey can't drive him due to her limited eyesight. Jose has no insurance or any type of long/short term disability through his job.

AJ and Rosalynn has missed a lot of school due to all the health crisis situations their parents are trying to endure. The children are trying to help with their father while Carey is in the hospital. With their mortgage due, the high price of utilities, gas, and food on top of medical bills... The Garcia Family could really use your help.

Any amount of donation that you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

We also ask for prayers for Jose, Carey, and their children. They are in a battle right now and I BELIEVE that God hears our prayers. The POWER of prayer is amazing. Please pass this prayer to all your prayer chain and prayer warriors! Thank you in advance!
