Support the Geriks

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a recent life event that's been both unexpected and challenging for the Gerik family. Last Wednesday, while Jeff was hanging up Christmas lights, his ladder slipped off of the house, resulting in a 20-foot fall that broke his left fibula and completely shattered his tibia and ankle joint.

Since that day, he has been in the hospital, has already undergone 2 surgeries, and has his 3rd surgery planned for this Friday, with one to two more surgeries expected in the coming months. They are expecting Jeff to be in the hospital through Christmas, which unfortunately will be their 8 month old Eli’s first Christmas. Though the Gerik’s maintain a positive demeanor, the reality is sinking in—Jeff’s ankle will never be the same. The best-case scenario involves permanently fusing his foot at the joint, but the worst-case scenario could involve amputation at the shin bone.

Despite the uncertainties, Jeff and Calley find comfort in trusting God's plan and holding onto the belief that remarkable things are still in store for Jeff’s life. We are reaching out on their behalf to our incredible community for support during this challenging journey. Your generosity will make a significant impact by helping to cover big and little costs— from gas and groceries to medical expenses, rehabilitation, and the life adjustments needed for this new chapter.
