Support the Gleeson family

Our dearest friend Sarah is currently very poorly in hospital. After feeling unwell for a while she went to the doctor's and was sent for routine blood tests. Whilst waiting for her appointment, she started to deteriorate quickly and went to A&E last Wednesday where she was diagnosed with Leukemia. From there she was blue lighted to Addenbrookes.

Sarah has been through a very tough time as initially they struggled to get her symptoms under control, but she has thankfully now begun to respond to treatment. Sarah is still in Addenbrookes, being looked after by an amazing team who have started her on a treatment plan.

Once stable, she will receive treatment over the next 9 months which thankfully she will be able to travel up to Addenbrookes for as a day patient. The prognosis is good.

Jonathan and the children are obviously in shock, but they are keeping positive and surrounding Sarah with love. For those of you who know Sarah well will know how incredibly strong and positive she is, and it will not surprise you to hear she is handling her diagnosis with the same courage and determination that we all know and love her for.

We know from personal experience just how difficult this process is and how much it impacts on every part of family life. Friends have been incredible and are rallying round to provide support for them all which they are all so very grateful for.

We are reaching out on their behalf to ask for any contributions you may be able to give. We are all too aware of the financial impact having a family member go through treatment has, the daily trips to and from Addenbrookes alone soon add up. Sarah and Jonathan were initially hesitant for us to reach out in this way, as they know how difficult financial situations are for everyone at the moment, but we hope that it will in some small way help to relieve one of their worries so that Sarah and the family as a whole can just concentrate on her treatment and recovery.
