As many of you know, Chris was diagnosed in the Fall of 2022 with a rare form of cancer known as Olfactory Carcinoma. Unfortunately, after what was initial success with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, Doctors have recently discovered a large tumor pressing on his brain stem and multiple smaller tumors on the opposite side of the originally affected area of his olfactory/sinus region. Treatment options are limited, but Chris will undergo another round of radiation and chemotherapy to hopefully reduce the size of the tumors. Sadly, the tumors are inoperable , there is no cure, and doctors have shared with the family that the cancer is terminal.
Chris is a wonderful husband to Leigh-Ann and father to Nicholas and Alex. Although Leigh-Ann is a full-time French teacher at Bishop Miege High School, as well as an owner/director of The Language and Music House, a private language and music school in Kansas City, Chris has been the main breadwinner for the family over the last few years. Their oldest son Alex will graduate in the top of his class at Bishop Miege High School this May and has been accepted to the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in the Fall. Nicholas is also currently attending Bishop Miege, where he is successfully finishing up his freshman year.
During the first phase of his cancer battle, Chris was unable to work while undergoing treatment. The family did not ask for any donations, although many of you were so generous with meals, gift cards, and monetary gifts for which the family is so grateful. Sadly, their resources are now exhausted.
For those that would like to be of some help to the Haggerty family as they navigate this difficult and uncertain time, a GoFundMe account has been set up for donations to help them with medical and living expenses. These donations will hopefully provide some comfort, so that they can focus on what is most important, the time that they have left to spend together as a family.
