Support the Hanagan family, Cancer strikes their Dad!

I’m Danielle, I’m a friend of the Hanagan family. Tina’s kids attended the same school as our kids and then Cal and Tina moved in right across the street! We have been on an amazing trip out west to the Dakotas. Cal’s one and only trip. We had some amazing pics! It’s been a pleasure growing old with this family!

Cal and Tina met at a Recovery function. Both of them have been clean/sober for 13 years! As they both continued their meetings they noticed the kids were similar in age. They became friends and later fell in love blending into a family of 9. They completed their family together with a son in 2016.

I felt Cal and Tina were always putting the kids first. Cal always made sure the boys and Tina had heat, food, water and always managed to slip in time to practice baseball, football, and soccer with the kids! It sometimes took place in the street, with our local police joining in the fun. Cal and Tina together now in marriage share 8 wonderful children. They range from 8 yr - 30 years old. Three of their children live at home and will need financial support for further schooling. Even basic needs will be hard to meet. Cal is the breadwinner of the family and isn’t setup to support the family at this time. Both of them have been off work for several weeks now with no income coming in.

Cal has always worked hard and if he said he would be there for ya…he was there! His true calling though happened to be selling cars! He worked for a few places thru out the Fox Valley area and has made many friends. He appreciates all of them! Some of you may remember seeing him on his Harley! I remember riding on the Harley!! Good times!! Others may remember seeing him weekly at the meetings. He was always somewhere!!

So, why are we talking about him like this?!?!

Cal, was just recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Cal’s diagnosis in September 2024 was, “You have an ulcer, you have a mass, you have esophageal cancer and we can treat and give you extra years, to now we can’t do anything, The cancer had made it to your lymph nodes, liver, and now the brain.” Now he’s on hospice and we are just coming up to the week before Gun hunting! Cal is dwindling in front of our eyes.

Gun hunting is one thing he does enjoy with his boys. They always enjoyed scouting for the “Big Bucks”! Cal is hoping he will be able to make it out this season for even a hour or two.

I ask if you feel compelled to either pray or donate for this family to please do so.

I am hoping to help with the overbearing expense of funeral and burial with the GoFundMe page. They also have some financial and medical debt from this rapid cancer diagnosis. He had just had several surgeries, COVID, and hospitalizations for other health issues.

The last plea is for the children. A little extra for them to remember how wonderful of a father and step-father he has been and their furthering education..
