‍♀️ Support the incredible work of GLITS & MERMAIDS

Hey, Monstera here, welcome to the 'na sirena Go-Fund, raising funds for incredible trans-focused organizations GLITS (NYC) & MERMAIDS (UK) - Splish splash

The goal is to reach at least 1k (in GBP as that's where the campaign is registered). ANY & ALL donations will be split equally between these two organizations. That's right, all the money collected will be donated - all documented through receipts ofc!

Why this Go-Fund & why these organizations?

'na sirena is a project dedicated to the celebration of trans history & existence. It felt important to use this as an opportunity to gather and send funds right back to the community it spotlights. You can think of it as a substitute for the show entrance, or simply an act of solidarity and circularity.

Just 100 people donating £10 will guarantee the minimum goal :)

And if you can't donate at this time, thank you reading this! It would mean a lot if you could send this to anyone who may be able to support. Even just resharing it in your networks can truly help in achieving and ~ hopefully going above ~ the 1k target.

Why GLITS & MERMAIDS?

Times are tough and there are indeed so many causes to be supporting today and everyday. In affinity to the the aims and themes of the piece, I picked these two organizations for their relevance to the territories frequented by me, and their invaluable work brought to communities in adjacency and continuum to my trans experience.

Meet GLITS

With a focus on the unique needs and experiences of transgender sex workers and the TLGBQIA and Bi Poc community members from the NYC area, GLITS works locally, nationally and internationally across a variety of issues including immediate crisis support, immigration & asylum, healthcare and housing. GLITS is powered by founder Ms. Ceyenne Doroshow an international speaker and media figure campaigning against the many issues specifically impacting Black, POC, trans and TGBLQIA people. With the support of staff members as well as volunteers, GLITS continues to be at the forefront of centering those community members who experience systemic discrimination at intersecting oppressions due to racism and criminalization,
while championing trans Black leadership and committing to empowering their community to find their own solutions.

Meet MERMAIDS:

Mermaids is a UK-based organization supporting trans, non-binary and gender-questioning children and young people and the important people in their lives since 1995. As one of the UK’s leading trans-focused charities, they provide services directly to trans children and young people especially crucial at a time where years of Conservative pressure and rampant transphobia in the public discourse contributing to the government's withdrawal of Puberty blockers as a treatment for gender dysphoria, now longer be prescribed by NHS England providers as of April 1, 2024. Beyond the health system, Mermaids work also extends to providing support for mental and emotional distress, and improving awareness, understanding and practices of families, teachers, GP’s, CAMHS, Social Services and other professionals who surround trans kids and youth throughout these crucial stages.

I'm also nervous and excited to welcome you to the show on June 20th at Grace Exhibition Space (NYC), first presentation of what I hope will be a long and fun 'na sirena saga, bringing more and more trans beauty and trans beauties around the world!
