It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Kim Watson, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer on October 15th, 2024. Kim was a beloved member of the Harrison High School community, having been part of the math department from the very beginning when the school opened in 1991. She retired in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and kindness.
Throughout her years at Harrison, Kim touched the lives of countless students, always going the extra mile to ensure they reached their full potential. She was an amazing teacher and mentor, and her impact continues to be felt by her students, colleagues, and friends.
Kim was also a die-hard Georgia football fan, attending games regularly with her husband, Jim, and their son, Zack. The family often traveled to bowl games and national championships to cheer on the Dawgs. Kim and Jim also shared a love for country music and were frequent concertgoers, as well as avid travelers with a goal to visit all the national parks.
Her son, Zack, graduated from Harrison in 2012 and the University of Georgia in 2016. Currently, he is pursuing his dreams as an actor and comedian in New York City. He continues to make his parents proud with his talent and sense of humor.
In Kim’s honor, we are establishing the Kim Watson Heart of a Hoya Memorial Scholarship to continue her legacy of helping students achieve their dreams. All donations will go directly to supporting this scholarship fund, ensuring that Kim’s love for education and her commitment to making a difference will live on through future generations of Harrison students.
We invite you to contribute to this scholarship in memory of Kim Watson and help us celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman who will be deeply missed.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
