Our dear friends the Lastovka’s have endured more than one accident this summer resulting in three unexpected surgeries.
Sarah had a thumb injury on her dominant hand in June and underwent surgery to reattach the tendon. A nerve graft was required in hopes that she will regain feeling and use of her thumb. She is healing and hopes to regain grip strength with ongoing physical therapy.
Luke was recently involved in an accident that has left him with two broken arms. Surgery was scheduled for the 18th of July to place a plate in his shoulder in hopes of promoting bone growth of his clavicle and scapula. He will undergo a second surgery to remove the plate once doctors deem the bone growth sufficient.
These injuries have kept both Sarah and Luke from their jobs for extended amounts of time. Not only has there been a loss of wages but the unexpected cost of medical attention and three surgeries have taken its toll.
As many of you know Aubree, Sarah and Luke’s daughter was diagnosed with diabetes last year. This diagnosis turned their family upside down. From learning new dietary needs and implementing them with three kids under 6 to administering insulin and living on high alert to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. It has been a struggle learning a new way of life but their family has persevered by their own strength and the love and support of community.
Please consider helping this precious family.
