Hi, my name is Taylor Decker and I've created this GoFundMe on behalf of Lauren and Jon Malone, and their sweet baby Mila.

Mila Skye Malone came into this world on October 25th, 2023. I can tell you all that I have never met anyone more excited to be parents than Lauren and Jon. Lauren's life purpose has always been to be a mother, and to see the joy Mila has brought to their family is incredible.

This week, they should have been celebrating Mila's 1 month milestones. Instead, they received an extremely rare cancer diagnosis for her- Congenital AML Leukemia.

Mila was born with small circular bruising on her body, and her parents were told it would fade over time. Once new spots kept popping up, they pushed for another pediatrician visit to look again. The new doctor they hadn't seen before took them seriously, and urged them immediately to go to the ER to get labs done. While they are glad to have some answers, these aren't the answers they had hoped for.

Congenital AML Leukemia is an extremely rare condition. So much, that there have only been 20 cases diagnosed this year, and reported cases suggest that this condition affects about 1 in 5 million.

Mila's parents and her medical team at Helen Devos Children's Hospital are determined to treat this with everything they have. She will be going through 4-5 rounds of aggressive inpatient chemotherapy, and may or may not need a bone marrow transplant at the end of it. These rounds of chemotherapy are intense, and will cause Mila to essentially have no immune system. Because of this, her parents will be staying inpatient with their baby girl for the next 4-5 months.

Lauren and Jon are the most loving, caring and devoted people I know. They would do anything for anyone, and love their daughter more than life. Since they need to stay inpatient with Mila for an extended period of time, we want to help them in any way we can to lighten the financial burden of medical bills and living expenses.
