Support the Mayacamas Ranch Staff
Donation protected
Earlier this week, Mayacamas Ranch burned to the ground leaving staff homeless and jobless.
My name is Barbara Fitzgerald and I am a yoga teacher in Healdsburg, CA. In 2014, I was part of a group of 35 people who lived at Mayacamas Ranch in Calistoga for a Yoga Teacher Training, led by Gina Caputo and Kathryn Budig. This place that we called home, and all the people that worked to make it so, supported our transformation into strong and well-rounded yoga teachers. We have always been grateful for our time there and with them.
If you have ever been to the Ranch, you know it was a sanctuary for healing, personal transformation, and connection. Sadly, this place that has meant so much to so many completely burned to the ground during the Northern California Wild Fires.
As if losing such a special place was not already devastating enough, this tragedy has left the hardworking staff, many of whom had been there for over a decade and some of whom lived on the property, jobless and homeless. The head chef, who kept his life savings in cash in his room, has lost everything. These are kind, talented, hardworkng people with families to support and without many places to turn.
In the short term, we are looking for donations so that they can buy groceries, water and other immediate supplies, and pay rent.
In the long-term, we are looking to help them with job placement. The General Manager of Mayacamas Ranch has described them as "honest, reliable, flexible, and teachable. They are such a committed and hardworking team; they would be an asset to any restaurant or hotel."
If you (or anyone you know) are in the restaurant or hospitality industry and can help with providing work, please get in contact with me.
Please help care for these people who have worked so hard to care for others. Thank you.
