The McWilliams have reached their goal!!! Thank you everyone, we truly appreciate your support!!
There are moments in life that feel so heavy, it’s hard to believe that one family could bear so much heartbreak. The McWilliams family has faced a series of unimaginable trials over the past three years, and now they are enduring the most devastating loss of all: the unexpected passing of their beloved oldest son, Jade on September 3rd at the age of 27. They are now leaning on the kindness and compassion of the community to help them through this painful journey.
Three years ago, Shanon and Tyler McWilliams were living in Nebraska, running a successful business, and raising their children with hope and joy for the future. Their lives changed forever when their 21 year old son Sabastian suffered a life-altering gunshot wound to the head. Miraculously, Sabastian survived, but his road to recovery has been long and painful. After months of rehabilitation and endless hospital visits, Sabastian defied the odds, even getting married to his sweetheart Holly. Together, they’ve welcomed two beautiful children into the world, but Sabastian remains on permanent disability due to the irreversible brain damage from his injury.
While the family was still reeling from Sabastian’s tragic accident, only two months later, they were hit with another devastating blow: their 17-year-old daughter Eliana was diagnosed with terminal cancer. As if that weren’t enough, she also suffers from an autoimmune disease that is attacking her nervous system, leaving her partially paralyzed. Eliana has endured countless hospital stays and terrifying seizures, all while fighting with incredible strength and grace. Her brother fights to rebuild his life, while she is fighting just to keep hers.
Shanon and Tyler have sacrificed everything to support their children during these overwhelming challenges. They left their thriving business in Nebraska and moved their four younger children to Colorado to be closer to Sabastian and Eliana. The emotional and financial toll has been staggering. They have faced every battle with unwavering optimism, you will find them every Thursday volunteering at the local food bank and the first to a community service project despite their own hardships, but the constant hospital visits, missed work, and endless medical bills have drained them.
Just as the family was starting to find some semblance of stability, they were struck by the unthinkable: the tragic and unexpected death of their oldest son, Jade. Jade leaves behind his sweetheart, who is expecting a baby, and three young children. The family has exhausted their resources supporting Sabastian and Eliana and now finds themselves without the means to give Jade the proper farewell he deserves.
We are calling on the community to rally around this incredible family during their darkest hour. Funds raised will go directly to covering Jade’s funeral expenses, including the cost of a burial plot, casket, and travel, as well as helping the family with the time off work needed to grieve.
The McWilliams family has faced more heartache in these three years than most will face in a lifetime. They have given everything they have, physically, emotionally, and financially, to support one another, but now they need our help. Your donation, no matter the size, will remind them that even in the bleakest of times, they are not alone. Thank you for helping to lift this family as they navigate their way through yet another unimaginable tragedy.
