We are reaching out to you with a sense of urgency and desperation. The Meal Barrel Project, a vital lifeline for over 3,000 impoverished families across four counties, is facing an imminent threat. Our lease, unexpectedly terminated by the city of Sheffield, has left us in a precarious situation.

Since late 2018, our humble abode has been a beacon of hope, providing nourishment and support to those in our community who need it the most. But now, without warning, we are being forced to vacate our premises. The ramifications of this are dire: if we don’t find a new location soon, our county will plunge into a food desert, leaving thousands without access to essential sustenance.

We have pleaded with city officials, stressing the vital importance of our services for the survival of our community. Yet, their decision stands firm – our current facility is slated to become a parking garage for city vehicles. Despite our efforts, bureaucratic hurdles threaten to shut us down.

Time is not on our side. We have a mere two months to relocate without disrupting the crucial services we provide to struggling families. The clock is ticking, and every passing moment brings us closer to the unthinkable – turning away those who rely on us for their daily sustenance.
