Support the Meehan Family's ALS Journey

We have set up this GoFundMe account to benefit good friends Tom and Allison Meehan, along with their 2 teen sons Jack and Will, who live in Chelsea, Michigan. In June of 2024, Tom was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 45, and the last 8 months have been a rapid adjustment for this young family to the ever-changing challenges that have come with this. Their early days were spent meeting with countless doctors and specialists, understanding what to expect and what the best course of treatments and next steps would be for Tom. In more recent months, it's been an adjustment to the rapid progression of Tom's disease that has begun to make daily routines a challenge as he becomes more limited physically.

Concerns have now shifted to ensuring Tom's safety around their house, as walking and climbing steps becomes more challenging. The family is ultimately hoping to renovate the first floor of their home to include a bedroom and walk-in shower so that Tom can navigate safely on one floor. As with any serious diagnosis of this nature, there are significant financial constraints in being able to make their home accessible for Tom, and we are hoping to help them by asking their many friends and family to help where you can.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for a diagnosis of ALS, and the progression of the disease can vary significantly from one individual to the next, making adjustments very hard to predict. Ultimately, the goal is to make the Meehan's home accessible and safe so that they can continue to navigate each new challenge without worrying about the most basic of needs such as Tom getting in and around their home without limitations or fears of injury.

We are asking for those of you who know this amazing young family to share their story and help where you can. Aside from the financial support, they continue to rely on friends, family, and neighbors for help with the daily challenges they continue to face. We all know it takes a village, and I know they appreciate the many people who have already reached out and continue to reach out to help.
