Support the Mendez Family's Recovery from a House Fire

Michael, Anni, and Asher Mendez have suffered the kind of tragedy most of us consider our worst nightmare. At around 4:00pm on 11/12/2024 at their home in Round Rock, Texas, they first noticed a burning electrical smell. Michael opened the door to his son, Asher’s, room and saw flames. Thank God, Asher was not in his room at the time. Michael and Anni quickly sprang into action, but the fire rapidly spread into other rooms. Two of their three beloved pets, Jake and Cora, ran to hide out of fear. Jake and Cora later died from smoke inhalation. Michael, Anni, and Asher all escaped with their lives, mostly (physically) uninjured.

What your donations will be put towards: The fire has destroyed the second story of their home. What wasn’t directly destroyed by fire is damaged by smoke or water damage from the fire hoses, including all their furniture and personal items on the first floor. The Mendez family (or the Mendii, as some call them) do have homeowner’s insurance, but funds will be needed to help with the deductible, with the loss of income from missing work, and for the emergency vet bills for their third animal, Luna, who survived the fire but needed hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.

Anni and Michael are the kind of people who literally will stop their own lives to help others, even complete strangers. I’ve personally seen them do exactly that many times. They are resilient people, but this year has been especially tough for them, as they have dealt with car accidents, serious health issues, and the loss of a beloved parent.
