Support the Miller Children

Donation protected
The Millers are extremely grateful for any  help received to raise children adopted by Cathy and Chuck to have fulfilling complete lives.  This was always Cathy's dream as a foster mom of many and an adoptive mom of disadvantaged babies.  Later, Chuck came on the scene with many years as a high school teacher, also wanting to children reach their full potential.  Before Cathy passed away, Cathy and Chuck adopted two little guys, Kevy and Carmello.  They came from very dire birth circumstances but now their young lives have a chance to flourish.  The older children, Michelle and Deyki are on the road to meaningful lives but your financial support is needed.

Chuck, a high school teacher of 26 years at St John’s Military Academy in Delafield, decreased his work status from full to part time resulting in a 20% pay decrease. This was necessary to be available to meet the needs of the children.  Some of the challenges facing the Miller’s are:

-Daughter Anaya, age 17, is off to college this fall. Despite a generous scholarship and student loans, there is a sizeable financial gap as well as cost of living expenses. Anaya has suffered a huge loss in losing her mother but continues to work on her future. She has been accepted by the Julliard School in NYC where expenses are high. There is a separate GoFundMe site to support this.

-Robert, age 15, has numerous health challenges and has frequent doctor’s appointments and regular stays at the hospital. His challenges include sickle cell disease, severe asthma, Chiari malformation of the brain, and numerous food allergies.

-Michelle, age 11, is deaf but wears cochlear implants. Batteries cost near $300 each and only partially covered by insurance. She lost her hearing to meningitis at seven months.

-Carmello, age 4, has behavioral complications as a consequence of severe prenatal drug exposure. He also has a genetic condition, Alport’s Syndrome, where a mutation in a certain family of proteins will lead to eventual kidney failure, deafness, and even blindness. He is on medication to delay a kidney transplant for as many years as possible.

-Cathy had no life insurance and while Charles’ salary decreased, costs have increased, in some ways dramatically. For example, Charles now has increased day care costs as Cathy was a stay at home mom. Other costs have come to be such as housecleaning due to the challenges of single parenting a large family

-A headstone n the cemetery still needs to be purchased

-Chuck s maintains large life insurance premiums for future medical and other needs of the children in his absence.

-In the past month, both Michelle and Anaya started needed orthodontics work

-The Millers are trying to maintain as normal of a life style as possible. Chuck s would like to provide for the children such things as music, dance, and gymnastics lessons, but again, has suffered a significant salary decrease. Late this summer, of course, they will be facing numerous start of school year costs for supplies and clothing.
