Help Us Support the Moore Family's Medical Journey

Hello to all those reading this - we are honored to help the Moore family out with this Go Fund Me page. Please read the story below and help us support them!

On November 7th, 2021 Kevin Moore signed up for a gym membership at Grizzly Fitness Berlin, with a dual goal of getting in shape and supporting a young local business owner. That same year, Kevin and his wife Erica opened Rick’s Irish Pub in Redgranite. Between 2021 and today, Kevin has been to the gym with us at least 3 times a week, every week. During this time we have gotten to know Kevin not only as a regular at the gym but also as a father, friend, and pillar in the community.

While getting to know Kevin over the years we have come to learn that Kevin is also a painter of over 30 years and has recently been working with Kropp painting in Green Lake, who does a lot of work for Design Specialty Builders.

On Friday June 28th at about 2:45 PM Kevin was working out as usual at our Grizzly Fitness Berlin Facility when he developed a severe migraine. Our staff quickly stepped in, recognizing this as an out-of-character thing to be happening for Kevin. After talking with Kevin, staff confirmed that the best course of action would be to get him medical attention immediately, and drove Kevin to the local emergency room. After being admitted to the ER in Berlin, Kevin was told he was having a brain aneurysm. Kevin was transferred to a hospital in Milwaukee for further medical treatment and testing that same night.

You may recognize June 28th as being the same night Rick’s Irish Pub in Redgranite, Wisconsin, closed due to a family emergency. A typical Friday night at Rick’s consists of a bar full of people enjoying a fish fry, music, and the company of the Moore Family. Due to this family emergency and lack of staff the Moore family had to close, leaving them without income from that night.

Statistics show that 50% of brain aneurysms are fatal and 66% of people who have an aneurysm suffer permanent damage. By Wednesday, July 3rd, Kevin was declared stable by medical staff and he is expected to make a full recovery!! Kevin remained in the intensive care unit for further observation.Throughout the week he was surrounded by family, hearing about everyone’s plans for the upcoming 4th of July weekend. It was then that his recently-graduated daughter Brooke told her dad that she was going to go ATVing before visiting him at the hospital on the 4th of July.

Unfortunately Brooke suffered a severe accident while ATVing. Kevin quickly left his stay at the intensive care unit to be next to his 18 year old daughter Brooke, who is now in the intensive care unit on life support.

Kevin and Brooke suffered traumatic brain injuries 6 days apart. Brooke’s situation is extremely serious, and Kevin is still recovering from his aneurysm as well as dealing with every parent’s worst nightmare. Throughout this, Kevin’s wife and Brooke's mom, Erica, has been by their side every step of the way. She has not only been caring for her family emotionally and physically, but also overseeing Ricks Irish Pub back at home.

We got an update on July 12th that Kevin has recently gone to a follow up appointment and is doing much better. It is confirmed that he is expected to make a full recovery! However, he will NOT be cleared to go back to work for at least 2-3 months.

We also received an update on Brooke’s journey on July 12th. Brooke’s doctors say that if she does pull through that they are expecting for her journey to be many months in the hospital and then many months of rehabilitation after. With Kevin and Erica both being self-employed, neither Kevin nor Erica have any paid time off from work. During this time Brooke’s brother, Nolan, is also taking time off of work to help support not only his sister but also his parents.

Grizzly Fitness would like to come together with our community to support Kevin and his family through these very difficult times by collecting funds to help cover medical care, travel expenses, and lost income. Please help us in supporting the Moore family. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the Moore’s.
