Support the Okeke Family in their time of need

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that we ask for your support for Cara and Kiana during this difficult time. Any donations are greatly appreciated to alleviate unexpected financial obligations and secure Kiana’s future. We are also exploring a trust, endowment or scholarship fund in Chichi’s name to honor his memory and continue his legacy. We ask that you consider donating and keep the Okeke’s in your continued thoughts and prayers.

Chijoke “Chichi” Okeke, 32, of Hamilton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 8th. Born in Rochester, NY, he was the loving husband to Cara (Francis) Okeke and devoted Father to Kiana Okeke.

Chichi attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his degree in Economics and went on to earn his MBA, graduating with honors, at the Wharton School. Chichi had a brilliant mind and passion for teaching others and taught as an Instructor at both Emerson College and the Wharton School. He has an accomplished professional career and most recently acted as the Assistant Vice President, Director of State Operations for the state of Florida at Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Chichi was a bright light for all who knew him. His energy was unmatched, and his beaming smile, huge laugh, and warm, vibrant personality would illuminate any room and make any situation fun and lighthearted. He made friends everywhere he went and impacted so many people with his undeniably positive and strong spirit. Chichi sought opportunities to use his influence whenever possible and found great joy in doing so. He coached youth basketball at the Cambridge YMCA and took on many mentoring roles in the community. He was a strong advocate as a member of the Liberty Employees of African Descent and Allies group, and served on the board for United Way. He was passionate about sports and his favorite teams, but above all, he came alive on the dance floor.

Chichi will be most remembered as a devoted partner to Cara, loving “Dada” to Kiana and the most wonderful friend, sibling, and son. He is survived by his wife, Cara and daughter, Kiana; his parents, Eke and Cecilia Okeke, his siblings, Meme, Chiugo, Nonso, and Ifeoma; his mother-in-law, Layne Francis, father-in-law, Thomas Francis, and brother-in-law, Keith Francis; his Zeta Psi fraternity brothers and their families; and countless great friends.

Chichi’s family asks you to keep him in your thoughts and prayers, and just like he so strongly believed, fight for all that is worth it. We will keep every warm, happy memory alive and cherish all that he loved most.

Family and friends are invited to join Chichi’s funeral service at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Thursday, February 16. Visiting hours will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm
