The Peace Pole Project at SMCC

A group of people associated with Southern Maine Community College have formed a committee to raise funds for replacing the aging "Peace Pole" located on the campus next to the stairway leading down to Willard Beach.

You can read about the history of this particular Peace Pole, planted in the Spring of 1987 by a group of citizens and college staff/students involved in producing a 10 part Community Television series called "Quest for Peace" at the nearby former Spring Point Community TV Center (now the SMCC Communications Department).

This fund-raising event will be used to purchase a new Peace Pole and re-dedicate the pole at a ceremony in the Spring of 2025. All contributors will be acknowledged and invited to attend the Spring planting ceremony on the SMCC campus.
