Hi, My name is Sonia and I am starting this page to support my dear friend Bridget. As some may know, Bridget and her family are currently going through a very difficult time.

Mira was diagnosed in August of 2022 with a very rare fast growing central nervous system tumor called an Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (ATRT). While it sounds like something out of StarWars it turned out to be a very aggressive form of cancer. She underwent brain surgery in August to have the tumor removed. It was successful however they did find small tumors on her spinal cord so instead of FINALLY going back to school she headed off to the hospital to start chemotherapy. Because of how she reacted to the chemo we spent most of October-December in the hospital.

At the beginning of February, we learned the chemo wasn't successful and she would be moving on to radiation. For her, that means six weeks of daily appointments at the Tom Baker Cancer center. Thankfully she is outpatient for this part of her treatment (as long as she can stay healthy!), but it does mean daily trips from home to the hospital. She has always been a little car sick and the throw-on radiation on top of that makes it a rough trip daily.

She just turned 10 this month. She is a wonderful outgoing kid and loves animals of all shapes and sizes. She loves being outside and exploring nature. She is still trying to decide what she wants to be when she grows up but she is leaning toward a vet or a farmer or a safari guide. When she isn't outside she can be found reading books, crafting or building and playing with Minecraft lego. Throughout this whole journey, she has kept her positive outlook and even when she experienced hiccups in her treatment plan she has always been able to look on the bright side and find something to be thankful for.

We don't know what the future holds and are learning to live in the moment and be prepared to change plans based on how everyone is feeling each day.
