Support the Petroff Family
On Friday, August 27th John Petroff suffered a massive heart attack while at work and although the efforts to save his life were herculean at best, he sadly did not survive. His official date of passing is September 2nd, 2021. John leaves behind his partner in crime, Margaretha and his three beautiful children, Joey (11), Lulu (9) and Jack (7).
John was only 54 years old and seemed to be in good health. He was always in good spirits around his friends and family, and super vocal and supportive of his children on the sidelines at their soccer, football, and baseball games. He was an incredibly hands on father who made breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day and was back and forth from school, work, home, and the fields. He knew every pediatrician, was around for every appointment and even at the slightest sniffle he was telling Margaretha what needed to be done for the children.
Margaretha and John discussed organ donation and agreed they would both be organ donors. John is officially an organ donor now, as he has given a second chance to others in dire need. Ultimately, John himself, was likely a potential heart transplant candidate. So, it is very fitting that John’s last act in life will be to give the gift of life to others – an enormous act of generosity from a grieving family.
The Petroff family has been actively involved with the Palm Beach Gardens Youth Athletic Association since 2014 with all three children playing almost every sport. Whether out on the soccer, basketball, baseball, flag and now tackle football fields the Petroff’s have been very supportive of the PBGYAA.
Margaretha hopes that all dads, husbands, and brothers reading this page will note that John ignored some early signals that his health was in jeopardy. If you, or anyone you know and love, has any symptoms of heart disease – please go see your doctor.
A Go Fund Me account has been set up by the PBGYAA, on behalf of the Petroff family to help provide for the expenses the family will incur in the coming months. All funds collected will be given directly to the Petroff family by the PBGYAA.
Thank you,
Laurie French, Executive Director
