Dear Family, Friends, and Well-Wishers,

My sister, Fawn Tuyet Lee, age 41, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at her home in San Jose, CA.

She was born December 8, 1975 in Saigon, Vietnam to Xieu Thi Phung and Quoi Dinh Ly. She was a 1994 graduate of Andrew P. Hill High School. She later received a scholarship to attend St. Mary‛s College of California. She graduated in 1998 with a B.S. degree in organizational psychology and had a successful career as a Sales Compensation Analyst.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Pham, and three children, Ethan, Ellen, and Emma.

6 years ago, February 10, 2011, Fawn was diagnosed with late-stage Stage IV non-small cell adenocarcinoma. Throughout her journey, she had kept a positive attitude, good nutrition, and plenty of exercise. Her cancer had taught her to live life to the fullest and she never allowed cancer to define her.

Like any devoted mother, Fawn was “everything" to her children. She was their teacher, cooker, driver, guidance, party coordinator, playdate organizer, shopper, cleaner, the family financial advisor, and activity planner. She did it all with such joy while juggling a full time job, 2 dogs, 3 bunnies, & 6 chickens; and concurrently with her cancer treatment, maintaining her own health, and keeping up with her own personal blog.

She stopped working only 3 months ago, with her husband, Rick, staying home to take care of her through her final days.

In December of 2016, I asked her how she wants her children and everyone to remember her as.  Her wish is for everyone to remember her legacy, and for each one of us, here on earth, to live life to the fullest. Go travel, eat (that yummy dessert), hike, or exercise. Do anything that makes you happy. Fawn always reiterated that you have to make yourself happy, and show love to the ones you love.

She had also asked us to show someone you care about them. Tell them you appreciate them, hug them, spend time with them, laugh with them, guide them, forgive them, and make sure to celebrate the joy of life with them. And remember, to love yourself.

Fawn’s wish for her children, Ethan, 10, Ellen, 8, and Emma, 7 years old, is to have fond memories of her legacy and for everyone to help guide them in becoming a successful adult.  And because she is no longer here to be their mentor, with everyone’s help, she hopes her children will one day have a college degree, just like their mother.

“It takes a village to raise a child to become a successful, healthy, and a happy child.”  We want to thank each one of you for being that “village” in helping her family through this difficult stage, with only her husband left to take care of the children while re-starting his job to pay for their bills. Any remaining funds will be used for her children’s academic & college funds.

Thank you very much,

Karen Hoa Ly  (Fawn’s sister)
