Our hearts are shattered as we share the sudden and unexpected passing of Matt Pike early this morning, November 15, 2024, at 3:30 AM, due to complications from surgery. Matt was the rock of his family—a devoted husband to Dede, his partner and best friend of over 30 years, and an incredible dad to Carter, Dylan, and Kailar.

Matt was more than just a husband, father, and grandfather—he was the kind of person who made everyone feel like they were his favorite. His kindness, humor, and warmth drew people in, and his love for his family was immeasurable. This year, Matt’s joy grew even brighter as Carter and Dylan welcomed baby boys, making him the proudest “Papa Matt.”

This morning, we lost not only a father, husband, and grandfather but a man whose presence was larger than life. As Dede, Carter, Dylan, Kailar, and their families begin to navigate life without him, they face not only the weight of their grief but also the unexpected financial burdens of this tragedy.

We, Gretchen (Matt’s sister-in-law) and Riley (his niece), are organizing this GoFundMe to honor Matt’s memory and to help ease the financial stress on Dede and the boys. Contributions will go toward funeral expenses and supporting Dede as she adjusts to life without her soulmate.
