Support the Pinkerman Family

On March 5, 2022, our dear friend Ricky Pinkerman underwent emergency surgery for an aortic dissection, a tear in his aorta. Doctors agreed that Ricky would not have made it through if he had waited even a few more hours before seeking medical attention. A mechanical valve was placed that day, but it wasn't long before an infection set in. In the days that followed, doctors at Carilion had to reopen Ricky's chest and place him in a medically-induced coma. During the time that Ricky's chest was left open, his surgeon discovered an aortic root abscess and eventually determined that they needed to replace his new aortic valve, this time with a biological valve.
In the time after these additional surgeries, Ricky did not wake up, despite being off sedative medications, and it was discovered that Ricky had suffered a stroke on both sides of his brain. Ricky remains in an unresponsive wakefulness state (formerly known as a vegetative state) and was transferred this week to a Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) where he will need intensive rehab. We are praying for Ricky to wake up and receive the treatment he needs.
The past 3 months have forever changed the course of Ricky's life and the lives of his wife Phuong and their three young girls, Kinsley (8), Kylie (6), and Ellie (4). We all know Ricky as a loving and devoted husband, an incredible father, a great friend, and an energetic youth pastor at Enon Baptist Church. We are asking for his community to come together and support him and his family during the most difficult of times.
Because Ricky has a long road of recovery ahead of him and because he will need continuous assistance with day-to-day activities, we are setting a fundraising goal of $75,000. Please consider contributing to this amazing family. We also ask for you to keep Ricky, Phuong, Kinsley, Kylie, and Ellie in your prayers.
