Support the Rebuilding of a Homestead After Fire
Donation protected
I am creating this fundraiser with a very heavy heart. For over 20 years my brother and sister had a very successful farm to table farm and landscaping business in Los Angeles. In January 2020 they decided to sell their business and home and move their family to Hawaii. Their dream was to buy land and work as a family to build a homestead community. They worked tirelessly and built two cabins, orchard and greenhouse to provide food and offer a place for people who wanted to come to Hawaii and live in a sustainable community. All of the clearing, structures and farm were built by them with help of other members of our family and community. On July 16 the main cabin caught on fire. There were propane tanks that provided heat and fire for cooking that was attached to the house. The fire reached the tanks and caused an explosion that burnt the house to the ground. Taking with it everything ... all clothes, household items, appliances, jewelry, irreplaceable childhood pictures, tools, stored and canned foods, computers, equipment, building materials, solar panels ...everything except the clothes on their backs. I felt moved to organize this Gofundme for them because Marlana lost her mom in 2021 and Rick lost his father in April. These past 3 years have been challenging -homesteading is not for the faint at heart....But whatever life threw at them they have stayed the course. They are an inspiration for many people. I know how important and heartfelt their mission still is. This fire was a devastating loss and has left them emotionally devastated and vulnerable. If you can please donate..any amount will help. If you cannot give monetarily, we understand but please please consider being an advocate by sharing this campaign with your family and friends. Help them re-build their home and give them the support they need to continue their passion. Thank you for your prayers, love and support.
