Help Us Restore Historic Mountain View Cemetery in Centralia, WA

Established in 1899, Mountain View Cemetery in beautiful downtown Centralia is the final resting place for over 8,200 individuals, including many prominent members of the Twin Cities. As you walk through this historic cemetery, you'll see headstones of various shapes and styles, telling the century-long story of this sacred ground. The cemetery's 28.3 acres are home to well-seasoned trees and shrubs, adding to its local charm and deep history.

However, time has taken its toll on some of the older buildings and grounds. One of the oldest structures, built in the late 1920s to early 1930s, is currently being renovated to restore its former glory. This building will house equipment needed to maintain the cemetery. Next in line is the renovation of the historic brick building, which will be converted into an enclosed columbarium with glass-front niches and an electric fireplace, creating a peaceful and comforting environment for visitors.

Mountain View Cemetery offers a variety of services for the surrounding communities, including in-ground burials, crypt spaces, columbarium spaces, a Nature Walk Scattering Preserve, and an Urn Garden. Our short-term plans include adding new columbarium walls along the south edge of the cemetery to meet the growing needs of the community.

We Need Your Help
To restore and maintain this historic cemetery, we need more hands to help bring it back to its former glory. Our goal with this fundraiser is to hire additional staff and provide resources to revitalize the cemetery, ensuring it remains a peaceful and beautiful place where families can lay their loved ones to rest with dignity and respect.

Meet Our Team
