The Safe Place App

Donation protected
My name Is Jasmin Pierre and i'm the creator of "The Safe Place" app, a free Minority Mental Health app geared towards the Black Community. The app is available on android and i phone. (Links to download the app are at the end of this message). I'm also a Mental Health Advocate, Public Speaker, Certified Peer Support Specialist, and Mental Health Writer.
All races go through mental health issues, but for as long as I can remember mental health issues have been very stigmatized in my community. All my life I've heard things like "This is just a White Persons disease" or "We're Black and our ancestors got through slavery. We don't have time to be depressed".We also need to take into account the racial trauma the black community faces in this country, and how it can impact our mental health. Some of the features within the app are Black Mental Health Statistics, Mental Illness Descriptions, Self Assessment Questions, Self Care tips, Self Care During Poilce Brutality, a Mental Health Directory, Videos, Articles, and so much more.

This app is a much needed resource to help bring more attention to Mental Illness in the black community, and what the cultural difference looks like.. this app can also be a great tool for mental health professionals of all races to help understand their black patients better. What is the reason I'm raising money? Well while the app is free for those who use it, in order to keep "The Safe Place" in the Android and IOS store it's required for me to pay monthly maintenance fees, and I also do many different projects for the app, so that I can continue to educate and raise awareness.

The app now takes over 5k a year to keep it app running smoothly, plus additional feels. In December of 2018, The Safe Place App was picked up to receive a fiscal sponsorship by a non profit organization called Broadmoor Improvement, In New Orleans, La. We also apply for grants since (since we are now under the umbrella of a non profit organization). Every grant and donation goes toward making a difference for black mental health, and the access to the resources we need.My only wishes are to see change happen, and lives to be saved from people using the app. To learn more about the Safe Place App and the work I'm doing please check out all the links below.
