Support the Schermerhorns After Fire Loss

Dear friends, family, and community,

My family is reaching out to you for support for our dear long-time friends, the Schermerhorn family, who suffered an unimaginable loss during the recent fires. Their home was always a place where EVERYONE was welcome, children from the neighborhood played for hours, and friends gathered. They moved to their Altadena home just a few years ago (and we all mourned the loss of our good friends). Their home, along with all of their belongings, was destroyed in the recent devastating fires. This family of five (and pup) is now faced with the daunting task of starting over.

Our friend Anne, is a former teacher. She continues to tutor and has a passion for supporting kids who have learning challenges. She is an activist, always standing up for the underdog, and is a true friend, and an incredible, dedicated mother. Eric, is a talented working musician, who lost not only his home that he has worked so hard to build with Anne, but also much of his cherished musical equipment—his livelihood. Their two sons are hardworking, fun, intelligent young men. Wolf coaches kids' soccer, inspiring young athletes, and Django has a brilliant scientific mind. (He had recently moved home, along with his girlfriend, as they saved for their next steps in life.) They lost everything.

The Schermerhorns recognize how much loss and devastation is around them at this time. But they could really use some support to help them as they try to navigate the process of getting their lives back together.

The funds raised will assist the Schermerhorns cover unexpected costs and get back on their feet, and allow them to address the many aspects of recovery and support their family through this crisis.

The Schermerhorns have always been active and engaged members of our community. They are always willing to lend a helping hand, but now they need that extra support.
